Hotmelt is a hot glue that realises fast bonding due to rapid cooling. Usually from an application temperature of approx. 160C to ambient temperature.
Hot tack
This is the adhesive strength of hot melt in a liquid, warm state.
Open time
The time between applying hot melt and bringing the surfaces to be bonded into contact with each other. So the time the hot melt remains hot and liquid enough for the materials to still stick together.
Machine open time
The open time in the machine is the time between applying the hot melt and bringing materials to be bonded into contact with each other. The open time in the machine is preferably as short as possible.
Setting time, termination time.
The time it takes for the hot melt to bond. Fast hot melts can do this in as little as one second
Print time
The time the machine presses a product or package. This time should be longer than the binding time of the hot melt.
