Instead of sealing boxes with tape, you can seal them with hot melt. This is more efficient in production, brings a sturdier box, and is cheaper per box. Self-adhesive hot melts are also available to replace double-sided tape, for example.
Cost per box
The cost per box can be reduced by around 90% if you use hot melt instead of tape. A hot melt unit can be refilled at your convenience, and is even available with an autofill system. A roll of tape has to be replaced every time it runs out, leading to production downtime.
More environmentally friendly
A piece of tape is not recyclable, while hot melt goes along with the recycling process for waste paper. Moreover, you use approx. 75% less material compared to tape.
Sturdier
A box glued with hot melt becomes stronger because of the glued flaps. With a tape, the flaps remain interchangeable.
