The advantages of hot-melt adhesives
- Hot-melt adhesives have a very fast bonding and a very short bonding time, but the "drying time" is therefore zero. In the packaging industry, many applications are pressed on for 0.5 seconds.
- Hot melt is moisture-resistant; the joint does not absorb moisture. Possibly materials such as cardboard are often the weak link.
- Hotmelt can bond non-porous materials. No moisture or solvent needs to evaporate.
- Hot melt can be dosed well automatically by precision glue guns, many applications in, for example, the food packaging industry, and fast consumer goods, also require a perfectly controllable glue job
- Hot melt equipment can be very flexible and compact, requiring only very short pressing sections
