A gear pump hot melt unit is often used in applications where a very precise dispensing and stable glue pattern is required, or when using a high-viscosity hot melt. Thanks to the counter-rotating gears -three in a single and two in a double Hot melt gear pump- there is a constant and even glue supply. This is especially ideal in applications where a constant and at the same time stable glue supply is needed, for example with coatings.
Various pumps available
Thanks to the wide variety of gear pumps available, there is a technical solution for almost every application.

Operation
The gear pump driven by an electric motor, provides a constant hot melt glue supply. When the hot melt modules are closed with a rotating gear pump, excess adhesive flows back to the tank via a pressure relief valve. Correct adjustment of the pressure relief valve can also avoid over- or under-dosing when the hot melt guns be opened. If the set pressure is too high, there will be too much glue at the start, if the set pressure is too low, there will be too little glue at the start. This then leads in one case to too much glue and in the other to too little glue at the start of the glue cartridge. It all depends on finding the perfect balance and we recommend leaving the adjustment to experienced professionals.
